Hope home with a rescue dog in the hotel

LOS ANGELES (AP) - In this hotel, guests are greeted with a wagging tail and a warm hand on her face.

A dog will be connected from behind the cash desk, wearing a "Adopt Me" vest that visitors come to Aloft in downtown Asheville, North Carolina, probably the only place in the US, where guests can take the dog welcomes visitors when they arrive.

But the hotel does not overwrite the weary traveler to this mountain tourism mecca, where people come to visit a larger house in the nation, the Biltmore Estate; cast a fly rod; or raising a beer in what is called "Beer City." There is only one adoptable dog at a time, and there is always a line.

Curs at Aloft Asheville Downtown is part of a adoption program run by the hotel and Charlie's Angels Animal Rescue. Pet Rescue rescues possible euthanasia in shelters in the area.

"We felt like us to save lives," said Christine Kavanagh, Director of Sales Aloft.

The hotel staff and rescue hope the program will not only continue, but also extends to some other places in the chain, too. The Asheville hotel include pets allowed, your guests to remain free, opened in 2012, and is not a complaint about allergies, dog feces or received bereavement, Kavanagh said.

Pick up dogs have space on the registration table on the roof of the third floor and some areas of its employees. You can not stay in the rooms at night, but can with visitors restaurant, bar and other tasks if released to go.

"Customers love it. It manifests itself in customer feedback and opinion research," Kavanagh said.

She and her husband filled the adoption papers, paid $ 175 in fees and waiting to be approved before they managed to get back on Ginger's house to meet your other dogs.

January Trantham and her husband, Atlanta, adopted a 2 year old Shih Tzu named Jackson. She fell in love with it when we checked in, he said.

"Every time we somewhere, one of us said," Let's go back to the hotel and see Jackson. "L could not stop thinking about this dog," Trantham said.

It is also a great way for dogs - and customers - to socialize, Kavanagh said.

"We have a small park near the reception. Sometimes there are many around the pin because the dog is a topic of conversation," Kavanagh said. "Our hotel brings people together so that they mix and mingle, and maybe adopt a dog."
