US initial jobless claims rise; Labor market developments stronger signals

(Reuters) - The number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits rose last week for the third week in a row, but continued the trend that the strong improvement in the labor market.

Although the economy is recovering from a slump at the beginning of the year, other data Thursday, the new home sales activity and lower manufacturing suggest that the recovery could be observed after the first quarter of climate-induced recession year strength lacking recently.
