Albany, NY (aktiencheck.de AG) - The retailer Macy agreed to pay $ 650,000 to settle allegations of racial profiling at its flagship store in Herald Square in Manhattan.

Under the signed Tuesday with the Attorney General of New York agreement, the company will adopt new guidelines on access to their police monitors security cameras and against profiling, train other employees to investigate customer complaints, keep better records of arrest and report for three years in compliance.

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said the deal should help to ensure that customers receive the same treatment regardless of race or ethnic origin in 42 major retail stores throughout the state giant.

"It is absolutely unacceptable - and illegal - for those in New York, to be treated like a criminal just by the color of their skin," Schneiderman said.
