Peabody Energy cut 250 jobs, closing 2 offices

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Peabody Energy Corp. announced that 250 companies and regional staff cut and the closure of two offices, Coal Miner record of almost 45 million dollars a year that the industry is facing lower prices and competition from natural gas.

Peabody in St. Louis, manufacturer of the world's largest private sector coal, said on Monday that the layoffs largely to the end of June amounted to about a quarter of their places of work and general out regional development. Fifty of the positions at the headquarters of Peabody, are those in which the company has 425 employees.

The offices are on the chopping block in Evansville, Indiana, and Gillette, Wyoming.
