WASHINGTON (AP) - US employers added a robust 280,000 jobs in May show that the economy recovered in 2015 after the eruption of a deep recession.

The unemployment rate rose slightly to 5.5 percent compared to 5.4 percent in April, said the government Sunday. But it happened for a reason: hundreds of thousands of people have started looking for work in May. Not all of them have found work and thus counted as unemployed.

The strong growth in jobs last month suggests that the employers to continue hiring even after the economy shrank remain confident enough in the first three months of the year. The government also revised its estimate of job growth in March and April by a combined 32,000 net.
