Senator McCain is being operated on to treat an intestinal infection

WASHINGTON, April 16 (Reuters) - US Senator John McCain was operated on Sunday in a hospital in Arizona for the treatment of an intestinal infection and was in stable condition on Monday, his office said in a statement.
